Donald P. Fischbach

Donald Paul Fischbach, 87, of Wapakoneta, died 5:54 p.m., Tues. July 9, 2024, at Otterbein-Cridersville, with his family at his side. He was born Oct. 4, 1936, in Anna, OH, the son of the late Paul Donald and Marie Amelia (Kuest) Fischbach. On Oct. 4, 1957, he married Alice J. Erb, and she survives. (Paul) Crow, Edmond, OK, Donald P. Jr., (Lisa) Fischbach, Pepper Pike, OH; grandchildren, Kristen (Christopher) Groves, Lesley (Andrew) Thomas, Beth (Travis) Denman, Larry Elsass, Jr., Gwen Wilges, Lora (Nick) Elliott, Ralph, III (Marie) Mertz, Nathan (Beth) Mertz, Lindsay (Stephen) Poe, Stephanie (Regan) Hankins, David (Rachel) Crow, Daniel Paul Fischbach, Heidi Marie Fischbach; step-grandchildren, Sandra (Maurice) Mosgrove, John (Rhonda) Truax, Mary Archer, Melissa (Tom) Carl, Blake (Kathleen) Lertzman, Ryan Lertzman; siblings, Roger (Jean) Fischbach, Raleigh, NC, Eileen (Charles) Gamble, St. Marys, OH. Don worked as assistant post master with the U.S. Postal Service, Wapakoneta Branch. He was a graduate of the New Bremen High School, and a veteran of the U.S. Army. Don was a member of the St. Paul United Church of Christ, Wapakoneta, where he served as deacon. His other memberships included the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, Aerie # 691, the Wapakoneta Loins Club, and the former Wapakoneta Elks, Lodge # 1170. Don, along with his wife Alice, enjoyed golfing, ball room dancing, and wintering in Meza, AZ. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Sunday, July 14, 2024, at St. Paul United Church of Christ, Wapakoneta, with Pastor Becky Erb Strang officiating. Burial is to follow in the Greenlawn Cemetery, Wapakoneta, where military rites will be conducted by the Wapakoneta V.F.W. Post #8445. The family will receive friends 1-4 p.m., Sat. July, 13 at the Eley Funeral Home & Crematory, St. Rt. 501, Wapakoneta, and 1 hour prior to the service, Sunday, at the church.
