Donnet Thomas "Junior" Shaw

Donnet T. “Jr.” Shaw, 91, of Wapakoneta, died 1:54 a.m., Wednesday, April 17, 2024 at St. Rita’s Medical Center, Lima, with his family at his side. He was born September 20, 1932, in Logan County, Ohio, the son of Donnet C. & Flo (Devel) Shaw, who preceded him in death. On January 25, 1958, he married Sally K. Metzger, and she survives. Other survivors include, a son, Marvin E. Shaw, Wapakoneta; a son-in-law, Jack Elliott, Plymouth, IN; 10 grandchildren, Jesse (Tara) Elliott, Candace Mullins, Aaron (Courtney) Newport, Traci (Thomas) Cason, Jacob (Tia) Newport, Aney (Brandon) Pryor, Garret (Katie) Williams, Joshua (Jenn) Williams, Heather (A.J.) Ott, Natasha Williams; 25 great grandchildren; 1 great great granddaughter; siblings, Jean McKinley, Parma Heights, OH, Dr. Darlene Shaw (Dr. George) Cogar, Charleston, SC, Thomas (Andrea) Shaw, Charleston, SC; step-sisters, Marcia Quellhorst, Anne Grove, both of Wapakoneta; and his four legged friend, Dallas. He was preceded in death by 2 daughters, Starla D. Williams and Cheryl K. Elliott, a grandson, Earl T. Elliott, a great grandson, Luke Newport, and his step-mother, Mary Heil. Jr. retired in 1995, after 35 years of service at Copeland Corp. Sidney. He was a Korean War veteran having served in the U.S. Army and the U.S. Air Force. He was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, Wapakoneta. Jr. was also a member and past president of Brand’s Lake Fishing Club and former member and past president of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, Aerie # 691, both of Wapakoneta. He enjoyed fishing, playing euchre and poker, and watching TV. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, April 25, 2024, at the Eley Funeral Home & Crematory, St. Rt. 501, Wapakoneta, with Pastor Doug Pretorius officiating. Burial will be at a later date in the Resthaven Memory Gardens, near Moulton, OH. The family will receive friends 12 – 2 p.m., Thursday, April 25, 2024, at the funeral home. Military rites will be conducted at the funeral home by the Wapakoneta V.F.W. Post #8445, following the funeral service. Memorial contributions may be directed to Brand’s Lake Fishing Club.
