Marie M. Arnett

Marie M. Arnett, 90, of Wapakoneta, died 2:40 p.m., Sun. March 11, 2012, at her residence surrounded by her family. She was born May 6, 1921, in Fryburg, OH, the daughter of John & Mary (Reier) Roth, who preceded her in death. On Oct. 26, 1944, she married Frederick “Fritz” Arnett who died Jan. 17, 1992. Survivors include, children, Don (Darlene) Arnett, & Diane (Larry) Winner, both of Wapakoneta, a daughter-in-law, Angie Arnett, Wapakoneta, grandchildren, Tracy (Andy) Haag, Lisa (Jon) Davis, Julie (Keith) Recknagel, Lance (Jaime) Arnett, Kelly (Scott) Miller, Brian (Lisa) Arnett, Scott (Allie) Arnett, Adam (Nicolette) Winner, & Kara Winner, great grandchildren, Kaley, Ashley, & Drew Haag, Brennon & Evan Davis, Nathan, Cameron & Kaleb Recknagel, Brady Arnett, Sydney & Cal Miller, Will Arnett, Leah & Gavin Arnett, Grady & Graham Winner, a sister, Helen Reiff, Lima. She was preceded in death by a son, Tom Arnett, and granddaughter, Katie Winner, 6 brothers, Edwin, Bernard, Karl, Urban, William, & Ferd Roth, and 2 sisters, Rita Steinke and Lenora Hunt. A homemaker, Marie worked at Westinghouse, Geren’s IGA, Marsh’s Food Store, and Gerbers. She was very strong in her faith and very involved in her parish of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Wapakoneta. She loved everyone and was a Eucharistic Minister, visited the sick, was a member of the former Christian Mothers Sodality, the sewing ladies, and was a regular in the Eucharistic Adoration Chapel. She received the St. Joseph Worker Award in 2002, and was a bingo and festival worker. She was always faithful in attending Mass, and helping out with many parish activities. She was a member of the K of C Council #1272, Auxiliary and a honorary member of 4th Degree K of C, Auxiliary. She worked on the Auglaize Co. Election Board, and was a member of the Wapakoneta Senior Citizens. She enjoyed traveling, playing cards, and spending time with her many precious friends. Her faith, family and friends were her greatest treasures. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Fri. March 16, 2012, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Wapakoneta, Rev. Patrick Sloneker officiating. Burial is to follow in the St. Joseph Cemetery, Wapakoneta. The family will receive friends 2-8 p.m., Thurs. at the Bayliff & Eley Funeral Home, St. Rt. 501, Wapakoneta. Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Joseph Catholic Church or St. Rita’s Hospice.
