Mary Ann Horman

Mary Ann Horman, 81, of Wapakoneta, died Friday evening, January 3, 2025, at Lima Memorial Health System emergency room. She was born January 21, 1943, in Wapakoneta, the daughter of the late Frederick E. and Luella A. (Ruppert) Ballweg. On November 26, 1964, she married Larry L. “Tub” Horman, and he survives. Other survivors include, 3 children, Dr. Deron Horman, Delaware, Ohio, Daniel (Jennifer) Horman, Lewis Center, Ohio, Molly (Terry) Davis, Traverse City, Michigan; 5 grandchildren, Ethan Horman, Iva Horman, Kaleb Horman, Elizabeth Davis, Luke Davis; siblings, Daryl Ballweg, Celina, Ohio, Joseph (Edie) Ballweg, Kansas City, MO, Marlene Ballweg and friend, Joe Morgan, Wapakoneta. Mary Ann retired as a registered nurse with the Bureau of Worker’s Compensation. She was a 1961 graduate of St. Joseph High School, and received a Bachelor Science degree in nursing from St. Elizabeth School of Nursing. Mary was active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Wapakoneta, where she sang in the adult choir. She also volunteered with the St. Joseph Sewing Ladies and volunteered with the St. Joseph Festival for over 50 Years. She enjoyed playing cards and was a member of 2 card clubs. A joyful and passionate advocate for others, Mary Ann was a loving mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend whose warmth extended far beyond her family. As a nurse, advisor, colleague, consultant, and confidant, she touched the lives of countless coworkers, offering wisdom, compassion, and guidance. Her heart was a constant source of care, as she selflessly supported neighbors and anyone in need within the community. A devout Catholic, she was a steadfast advocate for the Church, living her faith with unwavering dedication. A woman of deep belief, she was a beacon of hope and optimism, ever confident in the promise of a brighter future for all. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, January 14, 2025, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Wapakoneta, with Rev. Sean Wilson officiating. Burial will be at a later date on the St. Joseph Cemetery, Wapakoneta. The family will receive family and friends 2-8 p.m., Monday, January 13, 2025, and 9-10 a.m., Tuesday, at the Eley Funeral Home & Crematory, St. Rt. 501, Wapakoneta. Rosary will be said at 8:00 p.m., Monday, led by Terry Davis. Memorial contributions may be directed to the St. Joseph Sewing Ladies.
