Ruth I. Bradford

Ruth I. (Hughes) Bradford, 90, of Wapakoneta, died 10:06 a.m., Wed. Dec. 10, 2014, at St. Rita’s Medical Center, Lima, surrounded by her family. She was born July 12, 1924, in Auglaize Co., the daughter of Frank & Minnie (Trunk) Whetstone, who preceded her in death. On Feb. 24, 1945, she married Karl J. Hughes, Jr., and he died Feb. 8, 1993. Then on June 10, 1995, she married Paul L. Bradford, and he survives. Other survivors include, 3 children, David G. (Sondra) Hughes, St. Marys, Cynthia A. (Richard) Whitling, Apison, TN, and James K. (Myra) Hughes, St. Marys, 3 step-children, Gary P. (Barbara) Bradford, New Knoxville, Linda L. (Larry) Lee, and LouAnn Egbert, both of Wapakoneta, grandchildren, Rob (Brenda) Hughes, Mindy (James) Krieg, Ryan (Memori) Hughes, Wendy (Jason) Hedrick, Chad (Betsy) Meyer, Elizabeth Reinsel, Jonathan (Ashley) Meyer, Samantha (Bryan) Bowman, Jeff (Karrie) Hughes, & Josh (Jessica) Hughes, step-grandchildren, Jamie (Zac) Cameron, Teresa (Jake) Fruchey, Jeff (Kim) Lee, & Diane (Mike) Voisin, great-grandchildren, Ashley & Mallory Howe; Levi, Logan, Cole, & Gracie Hughes; Gavin & Lanie Hedrick; Brandon Meyer; Whitney Meyer & fiancée Jared McDaniel; Kayli, Kendyl, Kynzie, & Sheldon Meyer; Kollin Bowman Grady, Trent, Kalli & Rylan Hughes, step-great grandchildren, Jackson & Charlotte Fruchey, Cassandra (Jake)Reed, Katrina (Dylan) Jeanneret, Marcus Lee, & Zachary Voisin; Saige & Avery Cameron, great great grandson, Beau McDaniel, step-great great grandsons, Colton Reed, Kristopher & Matthew Schroer. She was preceded in death by granddaughter, Dawn Hughes, a grandson, Jamey Hughes, a son-in-law, Fred Egbert, 2 brothers, Eldon & Gerald Whetstone, and a sister, Frances Thuman. A homemaker, Ruth had worked at Goodyear Tire & Rubber, St. Marys, Fisher Cheese Co., and Diegel Canning Factory, both of Wapakoneta. She was a member of the Buckland United Church of Christ, Buckeye Farm Antiques, and the Good Sam Camping Club. She enjoyed camping, attending tractor shows and flea markets, wintering in Florida, and watching talent shows on TV. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Mon. Dec. 15, 2014, at the Bayliff & Eley Funeral Home & Cremation Services, St. Rt. 501, Wapakoneta, Pastors Adrian Sunday & Jeanette Tangeman officiating. Burial is to follow in the Greenlawn Cemetery, Wapakoneta. The family will receive friends 2-6 p.m., Sun, and 1 hr. prior to the service, Mon. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Buckland United Church of Christ, St. Rita’s Hospice, or the charity of the donor’s choice.
