Carolyn Mae Ambos Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Carolyn Mae Ambos, 86, of Botkins, died 8:40 p.m., Fri. Sept. 3, 2021, at Otterbein-Cridersville. She was born Feb. 19, 1935, in Elida, OH, the daughter of the late Warren & Lucille (Briggs) Sawmiller. On June 27, 1954, she married Darrell D. Ambos, and he preceded her in death on Dec. 17, 1981. Survivors include, 2 daughters, Deborah (Craig) Newland, Elida, OH, Rhonda (Mark) Fisher, Botkins, OH; 5 grandchildren, Derek (Sarah) Newland, Katie (Aaron) Flechtner, Dana (Luke) Howell, Kristin (Patrick) Green, Troy Fisher; 12 great grandchildren, Olivia, Sam, Jackson, Baylor, Grayson, Bennett, Anderson, Sullivan, Eleanor, Veda, Cora, Maya; a sister, Beverly Bockey, Spencerville, OH; sisters-in-law and brothers-in law, Betty Jo Sawmiller, Robert Ambos, Don (Eileen) Ambos, Patricica Rickert. She was preceded in death by her brothers, William, Gary, and James Sawmiller. Mae retired in 1997 after over 30 years of service with Airstream, Jackson Center. She was a 1953 graduate of Buckland High School and a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church, Montra, OH. She enjoyed playing cards, and was an avid Cincinnati Reds fan. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Thurs. Sept. 9, 2021, at the Eley Funeral Home & Crematory, St. Rt. 501, Wapakoneta, with Pastor David Sanders officiating. Burial is to follow in Glen Cemetery, Port Jefferson, OH. The family will receive family and friends 2-8 p.m., Wed. at the funeral home.
