Craig W. Raney Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Craig William Raney, 52, of Wapakoneta, died 8:15 a.m., Fri. July 29, 2022, at his home with his family at his side. He was born May 7, 1970, in Fremont, OH, the son of William and Carol (Nighswander) Raney. His parents survive in Fremont, OH. On Oct. 10, 2020, he married Pamela S. Hilgefort, and she survives. Other survivors include, 3 daughters, Corrine (Cal) Miller, Marisa Raney, and Gabriella Raney, all of Wapakoneta; 2 step sons, Jared Standley, Anna, OH, Jace (Anna) Standley, Chapel Hill, NC; mother-in-law, Judy Hilgefort, Ft, Loramie, OH; 3 sisters-in-law, Sue (Joe) Hoehne, Anna, Cindy (Kevin) Schlegel, Sidney, OH, Donna (Tedd) Stachler, Minster, OH. Craig was a 1988 graduate of Fremont Ross High School. He later graduated from Hillsdale College, Hillsdale, MI, where he was a pitcher on the baseball team for 4 years and played quarterback on the football team for 1 year. He then received a masters degree from Ashland College. Craig worked in marketing with Regal Rexnord, Tipp City. Prior to that, he worked at Emerson Electric, Sidney. He was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, Wapakoneta. Craig enjoyed boating, camping, coaching his girls’ soccer teams, and watching them play sports. He played co-ed softball with the American Legion, Wapakoneta, and was an avid Cleveland Browns, Cleveland Indians, and OSU Buckeyes fan. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Thurs. Aug. 4, 2022, at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, Wapakoneta, with Pastor Doug Pretorius officiating. Burial is to follow in the Greenlawn Cemetery, Wapakoneta. The family will receive friends 4-8 p.m., Wed. Aug. 3, at the Eley Funeral Home & Crematory, St. Rt. 501, Wapakoneta, and 1 hour prior to the service, Thurs. at the church.
