Dale N. Stolzenburg, 85, of rural Wapakoneta, died 6:10 p.m., Fri. Jan. 21, 2022, at Mercy Health-St. Rita’s Medical Center, Lima, with his family at his side. He was born March 6, 1936, in New Knoxville, OH, the son of the late Carl & Esther (Wierwille) Stolzenburg. On June 30, 1957, he married Sandra Sue Herndon, and she preceded him in death on Dec. 17, 2021. Survivors include, 2 children, Mark (fiancée-Jackie Atkins) Stolzenburg, Wapakoneta, Lori (Terry) Turner, Waynesfield, OH; a granddaughter, Krystle (Luke) Rodeheffer, a great grandson, Shane Rodeheffer, a step-granddaughter, Angie (Jason) Glaser, 3 step-great grandchildren, Liberty, Lincoln, and Kaylee Glaser; brothers-in-law & sisters-in-law, Larry Herndon, Waynesfield, Karen (Gene) Shade, Wapakoneta, Elaine Steinke, Wapakoneta, Ruth Herndon, Waynesfield; several nieces & nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, Dale was preceded in death by grandsons, Ryan & Brian Stolzenburg, a brother, Merlin (Jean) Stolzenburg, and sister-in-law & brother-in-law, Linda (Ron) Mooney, and a nephew, Eric Shade. Dale retired from Ford Motor Co., Lima Engine Plant. He had previously worked at Pepsi-Cola, Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co., and Van Dyne Crotty. He later worked maintenance at the Carlton House and the Auglaize Co. Library. Dale was a graduate of New Knoxville High School and a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, Moulton. He was a member, past master, and long time chaplain of the Wayne Lodge # 569, F. & A.M., Waynesfield, OH. Dale was also a member of the A.A.S.R., Valley of Dayton. He enjoyed doing yard work, and was a fan of the Cincinnati Bengals and Reds, and The Ohio State University Buckeyes. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Sat. Jan. 29, 2022, at the Eley Funeral Home & Crematory, St. Rt. 501, Wapakoneta, with Pastor Melodi Hagen officiating. Burial is to follow in the Greenlawn Cemetery, Wapakoneta, where military rites will be conducted by the Wapakoneta V.F.W. Post #8445. The family will receive friends 5-8 p.m., Fri. Jan. 28, at the funeral home, where masonic memorial services will be 7:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be directed to Trinity Lutheran Church, or St. Rita’s Hospice.
