Donald L. Risner, 84, of rural Harrod, OH, died 12:14 p.m., Sun. Nov. 21, 2021, at Lima Memorial Health System Emergency Room. He was born April 18, 1937, in West Newton, OH, the son of Henry Clay & Cora Belle Risner, who preceded him in death. On July 13, 1963, he married Barbara A. Good, and she survives. Other survivors include, 4 children, Anthony W. “Tony” (Tammy) Risner, Waynesfield, OH, Kimberly (Joseph) Kirchner, Cridersville, OH, Brenda (Wesley) Mortimer, Waynesfield, OH, Carla Gilroy, Columbus, OH; 9 grandchildren, Joel Kirchner, Falon (Dustin) Riepenhoff, Whitlee (Bentley) Kirchner, Kodee (Courtney) Kirchner, Connor (Logan) Mortimer, Shelby Gilroy, Jacob (Anna) Risner, Garrett (Tyler) Gilroy, Morgan (Cedrick) Murray, 11 great grandchildren, Avah, Carter, Maeli, Peyton, Nora, Bexley, Cruz, Renlee, Baylor, Oaklyn, Beckett; 2 sisters, Carol (Donovan) Hassan, Kenton, OH, Karen Sheets, Belle Center, OH. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Eva Orders, & Betty Legge, 3 brothers, Elmer Risner, Max Risner, & Duane Risner, and a sister-in-law, Judy Bukowski. Donald had worked over 30 years at Teledyne- Ohio Steel, Lima. He was a U.S. Army veteran, and served in Germany. Donald was a graduate of Belle Center High School, and an avid fan of the Cleveland Browns and the Cleveland Indians. He enjoyed mowing grass, gardening, and playing ball with his grandchildren. Although he was a man of few words….he had a huge heart for his family and loved them and enjoyed keeping up with his grandkids and great grandkids’ activities. A link in our family chain has been broken and will never be the same, but we are so thankful that he accepted Christ Jesus as his personal savior and we will meet again. The family will receive family and friends 1-3 p.m., Fri. Nov. 26, 2021, at the Eley Funeral Home & Crematory, 200 E. Wapakoneta St., Waynesfield, OH. Military rites will be conducted by the Wapakoneta V.F.W. Post #8445, at the funeral home following the visitation. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Wounded Warrior Project.
