Dorothy A. Frey Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Dorothy A. Frey, 96, of Wapakoneta, OH, died 7:00 p.m., Sat. July 9, 2022, at Otterbein Senior Life Center, Cridersville, OH, where she resided since 2008. Dorothy was born April 24, 1926, in Shelby Co., OH, the daughter of Frank & Pearl (White) Watkins who preceded her in death. On Dec. 22, 1944, she married Earl W. Frey, and he preceded her in death on Feb. 13, 2008. Survivors include, three daughters, Judie (Joe) Presar, Wapakoneta, Nancy (George) Lunz, Wapakoneta, Teri (Ted-dec’d) Lea, San Diego, CA; two sons, Richard Frey, Wapakoneta, Ron (Sharon) Frey, Wapakoneta; a sister-in-law, Vicki Seibert, Spencerville, OH; and a brother-in-law, Eric Sanders, Wapakoneta. Dorothy had 15 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by five sisters, Beulah (Lewis) Carr, Marcella (Richard) Gundolf, Evelyn (Irvin) Snavely, Twilah (Eric) Sanders, Violet (John) Dovel, and one brother, Gerald (Irene) Watkins. From these siblings, she was blessed with many loving nieces and nephews. Dorothy was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Jodie Presar in 1965, and a son-in-law, Ted Lea, in 2012. Dorothy was employed by Fisher Cheese Co., Wapakoneta for 22 years. She started working in production and eventually as administrative assistant and payroll clerk. She later worked as bookkeeper and office manager for Robert and Henrietta Miller at the Wapak Truck Stop. She also worked part time as a bookkeeper for Chuck Horman at CC Horman Welding and Manufacturing in Wapakoneta. Dorothy was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ, Wapakoneta, and a graduate of Jackson Center, High School. During her career, Dorothy was a member of the Business and Professional Women’s Club of Wapakoneta. There she served in several appointed positions while mentoring future young professional women. After retiring, Dorothy and Earl enjoyed traveling and temporarily living in Zephyrhills, FL. Dorothy’s favorite past times included playing bingo and working in her flowerbeds. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Thurs. July 21, 2022, at the Eley Funeral Home and Crematory, St. Rt. 501, Wapakoneta, with Pastoral Intern Anthony Brookhart officiating. Burial is to follow in the Cedar Point Cemetery, Pasco, OH. The family will receive friends 4-8 p.m., Wed. July 20, and 9:30 a.m. until time of the service, Thurs. at the funeral home.
