James Richard “Dick” Taylor, Sr., formerly of Laredo, TX, died 4:47 p.m., Sat. June 23, 2018, at Wapakoneta Manor. He was born Sept. 9, 1927, in Urbana, OH, the son of John Blaine & Dorothy Alberta (Burton) Taylor, who preceded him in death. Survivors include, 3 children, Carolyn (Don) Bishop, Dayton, OH, Melody (Jim) Stapleton, West Union, OH, James R. Taylor, Jr., Bellefontaine, OH, 3 grandsons, & 3 great grandchildren a sister, Betty June Gillenwater, Ripley, OH, Dick was a retired truck driver with the John Cheeseman Trucking Co., Ft. Recovery, OH. He proudly served his country with the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1950-1952. He was a life member of the American Legion, the V.F.W., and the Eagles of Manchester, OH, and Laredo, TX. He had a love for cars, especially Cadillacs, and enjoyed trucking and traveling. He also enjoyed playing the guitar and harmonica with his many friends and family who will miss him deeply Graveside service will be 1:00 p.m., Thurs. June 28, 2018 at the Dayton National Cemetery, Dayton, OH, where military rites will be conducted. Arrangements are being conducted by the Eley Funeral Home & Crematory, Wapakoneta, OH.
