Roger Dean Shellenbarger

Roger D. Shellenbarger, 65, of rural Wapakoneta, died 8:56 a.m., Tues. Dec. 28, 2021, at Lima Memorial Health System, with his family at his side. He was born Jan. 1, 1956, in Lima, the son of Donald E. & Norma L. (Lutes) Shellenbarger, who preceded him in death. On Sept. 1, 1979, he married Julie A. Lietz, and she survives. Other survivors include, 2 children, Sarah L. Shellenbarger, Galloway, OH, Eric R. (Codi) Shellenbarger, Wapakoneta; siblings, Linda (Dennis-dec) Smith, Westminster, OH, Steven (Janie) Shellenbarger, Elida, brother-in-law & sister-in-law, James (Brigitte) Lietz, several nieces & nephews. Roger retired in 2020, as parts manager with Stoops Freightliner, where he worked 45 years. He was a 1974 graduate of Allen East High School, and received a Bachelors degree in Business Administration from UNOH. Roger was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Wapakoneta. He was also a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, Aerie #1291, and the Loyal Order of the Moose, Lodge #1473, both of Celina. He enjoyed anything outdoors, including shooting, boating, scuba diving, mowing grass, caring for his dogs, and The Ohio State Buckeyes. Funeral services will be 4:00 p.m., Friday, December 31, 2021, at the Eley Funeral Home & Crematory, St. Rt. 501, Wapakoneta, with Rev. Sean Wilson officiating. Burial will be later in the St. Joseph Cemetery, Wapakoneta. The family will receive friends 2-4 p.m., Fri. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Auglaize Co.
