Tommy L. "Tom" Briley

February 25, 1947 - May 2, 2022

Tommy L. “Tom” Briley, 75, of Wapakoneta, died 11:44 p.m., Mon. May 2, 2022, at Wapakoneta Manor, with his family at his side. He was born Feb. 25, 1947, in Lima, the son of the late Thomas & Martha (Heath) Briley. On Jan. 9, 1971, he married Virginia “Ginny” Vore, and she survives. Other survivors include, a son, Toby L. (Angela) Briley, Reynoldsburg, OH, a daughter, Sara L. (Jerry) Shaffer, Botkins, OH; 4 grandchildren, Jenna & Griffin Briley, Cole & Miley Shaffer; a brother, Tim (Lanette) Briley, Wapakoneta; brothers-in-law, Tom Tangeman, St. Marys, Jack Tidrow, Richmond, IN, sisters-in-law, Becky (Keith) Holton, Catawba, OH Martha Vore, McAllen, TX, numerous nieces & nephews. In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by an infant granddaughter, Emily Shaffer, a brother and sister-in-law, William “Bill” (Judith) Briley, a sister and brother-in-law, Ann (Jim) Haney, 3 sisters-in-law, Marjorie Tangeman, Beverly Tidrow, and Shirley Vore, 2 brothers-in-law, Phil Vore and Dale Lewis. Tom retired from Sprint, (Century Link-Spectrum) Lima, as an installation and repair technician. He proudly served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Korea. Tom was a member of First United Methodist Church, Wapakoneta. His other memberships included The American Legion, Post #96, and the Tamarac Golf Club, both of Lima. His hobbies included playing golf, fishing, puttering around in the garage, and working on cars. Tom also enjoyed antiquing, going to garage sales, and attending flea markets especially the Elida Flea Market. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Sat. May 7, 2022, at the Eley Funeral Home & Crematory, St. Rt. 501, Wapakoneta, with Chaplain Mark Lovely officiating. Burial is to follow in the Elm Grove Cemetery, St. Marys, where military rites will be conducted by the Wapakoneta V.F.W. Post #8445. The family will receive friends 4-8 p.m., Fri. and 1 hr. prior to the service Sat., at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Parkinson’s Foundation.
