Lester F. "Pete" Cotterman

Lester F. "Pete" Cotterman, 77, of Wapakoneta, died 6:30 p.m., Sat. Jan. 9, 2010, at his residence surrounded by his family. He was born Feb. 4, 1932, in St. Marys, OH, the son of Samuel & Bessie (Goodwin) Cotterman. His father, Samuel Cotterman and mother, Bessie Cotterman Kramer are deceased. On Dec. 29, 1951, he married Barbara A. Zink, and she survives. Other survivors include, 6 children, Rebecca S. Cotterman, Columbus, OH, Dennis M. (Linda) Cotterman, Timothy D. (Deborah) Cotterman, Cheryl A. (Greg) Selover, Robert A. Cotterman, Paul E. Cotterman, all of Wapakoneta, 10 grandchildren, Andrew & Kasey Cotterman, Christopher (Andrea) Cotterman, Chad (Sarah) Cotterman, Holly (Travis) Baker, Kelly (Chuck) Walter, Jared Selover, Julie (Dustin) Becker, Danielle (Aaron) Tomlinson, Amber (Travis) Lea, 8 great grandchildren, Haley, Kaleb, Aaron, Ethan, Emily Marie, Emily Denise, C.J., & Riley, a brother, William "Joe" (Doris) Cotterman, Wapakoneta, a sister, Betty Weiler, St. Marys, 2 bothers-in-law, Jerome McEldowney, St. Marys, Charles (Lucy) Zink, Wapakoneta, 3 sisters-in-law, Betty Dicke, St. Marys, Mary Bradford & Linda Black, both of Wapakoneta. He was preceded in death by a grandson John Paul Cotterman.brothers & sisters-in-law, Donald "John" (Marie) Cotterman, Samuel "Sammy" Cotterman, Ronnie (Kathy) Cotterman, sisters & brothers-in-law, Louise (Floyd) Zimmerman, Delores (Archie) Sawmiller, Rosemary (Edgar) Holsinger, Pat Chilcoat Koeper, Beverly Cotterman, Barbara McEldowney, Dixie (Frank) Cramer, Judy Cotterman & Richard Weiler. Mr. Cotterman retired in 1983 after 35 years service as a crane operator & maintenance worker with the St. Marys Foundry. He later worked as a security guard with Pinkerton Security, and with ACRUX Security at the Honda Engine Plant, Anna, OH. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Wapakoneta. He was also a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, Aerie #691, Wapakoneta. A devoted family man, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren & great grandchildren. He also enjoyed traveling, hunting & fishing. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Thurs. Jan. 14, 2010, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Wapakoneta, Rev. Patrick Sloneker officiating. Burial is to follow in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Wapakoneta. The family will receive friends 2-4 & 6-8 p.m., Wed. at the Bayliff & Eley Funeral Home, St. Rt. 501, Wapakoneta. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions may be directed to Tri-County Visiting Nurses & Hospice or St. Rita's Hospice.
