Margaret E. Tidd

Margaret E. Tidd, 84, of Montra, passed away on February 26, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer during a brief stay at Logan Acres in Bellefontaine, Ohio. Margaret was born on November 3, 1941, to the late Gilbert and Leona (Serr) Schumann. On December 1, 1962, she married Jack H. Tidd, who preceded her in death on March 31, 2013. During their 50 years of marriage, they created many cherished memories traveling and spending time with family and friends. Margaret is survived by her daughter, Gina (Randy) Pence of Lakeview; her sons, Todd (Sandra) Tidd of Montra and Jon (Wendy) Tidd of Fishers, Indiana; and five grandchildren: Tyler (Erin) Pence of Jackson Center, Tiffani (Will) Doss of Grove City, Alyse (Taylor) McMurtrey of Noblesville, Indiana, Shelbi (Bill) Gabbard of Fishers, Indiana, and Jackie (Luke) Doseck of Jackson Center. She was lovingly known as “Mimi” to her eleven great-grandchildren: Jakson, Freddie, and Maggie Pence; Cameron and Olivia Doss; Harper and Harlan McMurtrey; Margaux Gabbard; Hyatt, Halden, and Hutton Doseck. She was welcomed into eternal life by her precious great-grandchild, Hope Ann Pence, and her other great-grandchildren who went before her. She is also survived by her brothers, Byron Schumann and David (Karyn) Schumann, both of Wapakoneta, and Philip (Kay) Schumann of Celina; and her sisters, Barbara (Charles) Given of Okemos, Michigan; Patricia (Gene) Schrolucke of New Knoxville; and Joyce Oakley of Tipp City; along with many nieces and nephews who loved their Aunt Maggie dearly. Margaret, affectionately known as Maggie, graduated from Wapakoneta High School in 1959 and attended The Ohio State University, where her claim to fame was serving breakfast to legendary football coach Woody Hayes while working at the faculty club. She went on to serve as an accounting supervisor and retired from Holloway Sportswear. Maggie was a devoted member of St. Jacob’s Lutheran Church – Jackson Township, where she faithfully served as a Sunday School teacher, elder, and organist for many years. She loved performing with the Dorothy Love Steppers dance team, mentoring children at Jackson Center Schools, and volunteering for many years at Wilson Memorial Hospital. Margaret — Maggie, Mom, and Mimi to her “littles” — will always be remembered for her deep and abiding Christian faith, her constant and loving presence in the lives of her family and friends, and the remarkable energy and joy she brought to all she did. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, at Eley Funeral Home & Crematory, St. Rt. 501, Wapakoneta, with Pastor Dave Sanders officiating. Burial will follow at St. Jacob’s Lutheran Church Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. prior to the service.
