Marvin Wilson Faler

Marvin Wilson Faler, 86, of Wapakoneta, went to be with the Lord, surrounded by his family, 9:07 p.m., Thurs. Feb. 4, 2010, at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima. He was born March 19, 1923, in Shelby Co., near Jackson Center, the son of Arthur Alonzo Day & Bertha (Zwiebel) Faler, who preceded him in death. He was raised by his aunt and uncle, Everett & Martha (Zwiebel) Naylor, and they are deceased. On July 26, 1947, he married Marcile (Steenrod) Faler, and she survives. Other survivors include, 4 children, Marcia (Phil) Fackler, Cincinnati, OH, Byron (Sandy) Faler, Wapakoneta, Joyce Smith, Sidney, OH, Mark (Roberta) Faler, Lima, 11 grandchildren, Wendy Gillis, Tricia (Dan) Paugstat, Laurie (Tony) Stamper, David (Mary) Faler, Anara (Joe) Merschman, Allison, Kevin, & Eric Smith, Amanda, Christopher, & Rachelle Faler, 12 great grandchildren, Andrea, Courtney, & Katlyn Gillis, Zachary Paugstat, Autumn, Haley, & Ian Stamper, Claire & Aaron Faler, Tristan, Dominik & Payton Faler, sisters-in-law & brothers-in-law, Eileen Faler, Bellefontaine, Gertrude (Gerald) Clinehens, Quincy, OH, nieces & nephews, Nancy, Marilyn, Patty, Bonnie, Lyle, Robin, Robert, Billy, & Velda. He was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Bruce Smith, brothers, Harold & Orville Faler, a sister, Mabel Shroyer, a half brother, Victor Hagelberger, and 2 half sisters, Clara Cotterman and Freda Davis. Marvin retired in 1983 as a machinist, after 35 years service at the Wapakoneta Machine Co. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps and a 1941 graduate of Jackson Center High School. He attended Salem United Methodist Church, Wapakoneta, and his hobbies included gardening, woodworking, and reading. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends. The family will receive friends 1 -3 p.m., Mon. Feb. 8, 2010, at the Bayliff & Eley Funeral Home, St. Rt. 501, Wapakoneta. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 p.m., Pastors Shawn Morris & Greg Roberts officiating. Burial is to follow in the Resthaven Memory Gardens, near Moulton, where military rites will be conducted by the Wapakoneta V.F.W. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Salem United Methodist Church.
