Mary Ann Thomas

Mary Ann Thomas, 91, of Wapakoneta, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 31, 2026, at The Gardens of Wapakoneta. She was born on December 25, 1934, in Findlay to the late George and Ethel (Bibler) Myers. On March 21, 1954, Mary Ann married her husband, Dale Thomas. Together, they shared 70 wonderful years of marriage before his passing in May 2024. She was also preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Darlene Adams. Mary Ann is survived by her daughter, Denise (James) Kantner of Wapakoneta; her son-in-law, Ron Adams of Celina; five grandchildren, Chad (Connie) Kantner of Wapakoneta, Angela (Joe) Kraft of Paris, OH, Douglas (Kelli) Adams of Celina, Alaina (Mike) Vecchio of Chicago, IL, and Eric (Annalyn) Adams of Connersville, IN; eleven great-grandchildren, Josh (Taylor) Hartman, Jacob (Nicole) Hartman, Haley Kantner, and Abby Kantner, all of Wapakoneta, Briar Kraft and Quinton Kraft, both of Paris, OH, Emma Adams, Ruby Adams, Linkin Waterman, and Brooklyn Waterman, all of Celina, as well as Jaedyn (Preston Rich) Waterman of Pikeville, NC. Earlier in July, Mary Ann was overjoyed to meet her great-great-granddaughter, Oaklynn Rich of Pikeville, NC. A 1952 graduate of Blume High School, Mary Ann proudly served as the church secretary for First English Lutheran Church for 25 years. She was a long-time, active member of both the Wapakoneta Women’s Civic League and the Wapakoneta Woman’s Club. An avid Bridge player, she treasured her regular card games and the warm camaraderie of her friends. Mary Ann and Dale loved to dance, spending many happy years line-dancing and ballroom dancing with their close friends. They also traveled extensively across the country and abroad. Summer camping trips with their young daughters created cherished memories and built a tight-knit family bond that endures today. Above all, Mary Ann was a devoted mother and grandmother who cherished every moment spent with her family. Funeral services will begin at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, August 8, 2026, at First English Lutheran Church, Wapakoneta, with Pastor Lorenzo Thomas officiating. Family and friends may call at the church prior to the service from 11:00 – 1:00 p.m., on Saturday, August 8. Burial is to follow in the Greenlawn Cemetery, Wapakoneta. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to First English Lutheran Church.
