Robert L. "Bob" Patterson

Robert L. "Bob" Patterson, 78, of rural Wapakoneta, died 9:15 p.m., Wed. March 25, 2009, at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born April 25, 1930, in Lima, OH, the son of Clayton & Erma (Campbell) Patterson, who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his step-father, William C. Eberle. On June 15, 1951, he married Marilyn Kuhn, and she survives. Other survivors include, a daughter, Pam (Jerry) Burkholder, TN,a son, Terry W. (Vickie) Patterson, Utah, 2 grandchildren, Chris (Amanda Wilson) Burkholder, IL, Joy Burkholder, TN, a sister-in-law, Kay Workman, Lima, a niece, Deb Guyer, 2 great nieces, Tasha & Aimee Guyer, a great great niece, Ava Guyer. He was preceded in death by a brother. Mr. Patterson retired after 38 years with XLO- Airfoil Textron, Lima. A 1948 graduate of Lima South High School, Bob served in the U.S. Air Force as a 1st Lieutenant and a pilot during the Korean War. He attended Hume United Methodist Church. He dearly loved his family and his many masonic affiliations. He was a member and past master of Hamer Lodge, #176 F. & A.M., member and past high priest of Wapakoneta Chapter Royal Arch Masons #183, member and past illustrious master of St. Marys Council #81 Royal and Select Masters, member and past imminent commander of the Sidney Commandery #46, and a member of its drill team. He was a KYCH Ohio Priory # 18, a past sovereign master of the Buckeye Council AMD #92, a member of the Irish Council #67, a member of the Apollo Tabernacle #1, P.D.D.G.H.P. 2nd District, and the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Dayton. His Scottish family, the Campbell Clan, was a member of the Black Watch. He was an avid fan of The Ohio State University Football Buckeyes and the Cincinnati Bengals. Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m., Mon. March 30, 2009, at the Bayliff & Eley Funeral Home, St. Rt. 501, Wapakoneta, Pastor Steve Oliver officiating. Burial is to follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery, where military rites will be conducted by the Lima V.F.W. #1275. The family will receive friends 2-4 & 6-8 p.m., Sun. at the funeral home where a Masonic memorial service and Scottish Rite ring service will be 7:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may directed to the Hume United Methodist Church.
