Ruby L. Kinninger

Ruby L. Shepherd Monsanto Kinninger, 91, of Wapakoneta, died 1:36 p.m., Tues. Oct. 14, 2014, at Auglaize Acres. She was born July 3, 1923, in Lima, the daughter of Samuel Elzy & Myrtle Ann (Maxwell) Shepherd, who preceded her in death. On Dec. 11, 1965, she married Bob Kinninger, Sr., and he died May 11, 1978. Survivors include, 2 children, Jeannine Monsanto (John) Smith, Divide, CO; Matthew A. (Renee-deceased) Monsanto, San Antonio, TX; 2 step-children, Linda Kinninger (Dave) Friend, Wapakoneta, Bob Kinninger, Jr., Wapakoneta; 7 grandchildren, Natalie Monsanto, Los Angeles, CA; Morgan Monsanto & Stephanie Monsanto; both of St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands; Sara (John) Wehner & Becky (Dustin) Jeanneret,both of Wpakoneta; Chris (Victoria) Kinninger, Columbus, OH; Andy Kinninger, Wapakoneta; 2 great grandchildren, Jaran Wehner, and Ethan Jeanneret, and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces & nephews, and great great nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her siblings and spouses, Irma Shepherd (Paul) Anderson, Vane (Helen) Shepherd, Lucille Shepherd (Merle) Edie, Enos (Stella) Shepherd, and Myra Shepherd (Ted) Colvin. Ruby worked as a secretary with Central State Seed., which later became Northrup King, Lima, and later Niswonger Chevrolet, Wapakoneta. A 1942 graduate of Lima South High School, Ruby served in the U.S. Navy during W.W. II. She was a member of First English Lutheran Church, Wapakoneta, where she was a member of the Lutheran Womens Guild and a 40 year member of the choir. Her other memberships included the Soroptimists, Wapakoneta Woman’s Club, a fifth degree member of the Auglaize Co. Pomona Grange and a fourth degree member of the St. Johns Grange. She volunteered for many years at the Christmas Tree Festival at the Allen Co. Museum, Lima. She participated in the Auglaize Co. Fair with her baked goods and sewing projects. She always enjoyed helping others and volunteering her time for many different causes. Funeral services will be 2:30 p.m., Sat. Oct. 18, 2014, at the Bayliff & Eley Funeral Home, St. Rt. 501, Wapakoneta, Pastor Neil B. Brady officiating. Burial is to follow in the Greenlawn Cemetery, Wapakoneta, where military rites will be conducted by the Wapakoneta V.F.W., Post #8445. The family will receive friends 2-4 & 6-8 p.m., Fri. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Auglaize Acres Tranquility Lounge Fund.
