William J. Koenig

William J. “Bill” Koenig, Jr., 92, of Wapakoneta, died 7:20 p.m., Sat. April 7, 2012, at Kindred Hospital, Lima. He was born Dec. 31, 1919, in Auglaize Co., the son of William C. & Katherine (Frankenburg) Koenig, who preceded him in death. On June 28, 1947, he married Lucille M. Bustetter, and she died July 25, 1994. Survivors include, 5 children, Theresa Murray, Cincinnati, Joseph (Deb) Koenig, Wapakoneta, Janice(Fred) Kohlrieser, Tipp City, Mary Lou Koenig (Charles Martin), Tipp City, & Barbara (Sam) Venturella, Wapakoneta, 15 grandchildren, Michael (Carrie) Murray, Emily Murray, Kathleen (Mike) Fenbers, Colleen Murray, Scott (Christi) Koenig, Eric Koenig, Toby Koenig, Patrick (Patty) Kohlrieser, David Kohlrieser, Jessica (Chris) Cyran, Matthew Martin, Christopher, Ashley, Brittany, & Allison Venturella, 14 great grandchildren, Aimee & Ashley Miley; William & Thomas Murray; Logan, Kaden, & Isabella Fenbers; Ashleigh & Shelby Koenig; Mackenzie, Kendra, & Samantha Kohlrieser, Jacob Cyran, Matthew J. Martin, siblings, Julian Koenig, Bernard Koenig, Paul (Kathleen) Koenig, all of Wapakoneta; Virgil (Sharon) Koenig, Uniopolis; Sister Dorothy Koenig, C.PP.S. & Viola Koenig, both of Sun City, AZ, and brothers-in-law, Alfred & Albert Bustetter, Wapakoneta. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Douglas Koenig, a son-in-law, Joseph Murray, brothers & spouses, Adrian & Marie Koenig, Omer “Toby” & Delores Koenig, & infant Cyril Koenig, sisters, Sister Gemma Koenig, C.PP.S., & infant Angela Koenig, sisters-in-law & brother-in-law, Loretta & Evelyn Bustetter; John & Verona Mosler. Bill was a mechanic & welder by trade, and worked at Detjen Grain Co., Farmers Grain, Unisteel of Peabody Galion, & Koneta Rubber Co, Wapakoneta. After many years of employment, he retired from J.B. Tool Co., Wapakoneta. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Wapakoneta, and attended St. Joseph School. His other memberships included Knight of Columbus, Council #1272, the Holy Name Society, and Brands Lake Fishing Club, all of Wapakoneta. Bill enjoyed fishing, working in his garage, gardening, and watching wrestling and westerns. He delighted in teasing and laughing with his grandchildren and taking them fishing. Bill was a kind, gentle but strong giving man, always putting everyone’s needs before his. He was deeply loved by his wife, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren & all who knew him. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m., Fri. April 13, 2012, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Wapakoneta, Rev. Patrick Sloneker officiating. Burial is to follow in the St. Joseph Cemetery, Wapakoneta. The family will receive friends from 2-8 p.m., Thurs. at the Long & Folk Chapel of Bayliff & Eley Funeral Home, 13 S.
